Memorial Day is hiding right around the corner and you know what that means… Pool parties, BBQ’s or maybe a combo pool party/BBQ ;). I love this time of year because, for me, it is the point where I officially switch my gears into Summer mode. With just two weeks until our long awaited four day weekend, I have the perfect “F’s” to get you in the right mindset, too.
Although this holiday is typically celebrated with good times and cold drinks, don’t forget to take a moment to remember those who gave their lives for us and to thank those who are still fighting for our freedom. After all, we wouldn’t be enjoying this holiday without them.
On special occasions like this, I tend to worry a little less about tan lines and a little more about how adorable this swim suit is going to look with my new donut pool float. I love refreshing my swimsuit collection because it gives me one more reason to get out and soak in the sunshine. This season, I’m obsessing over bold colors, leafy patterns, and sexy cutouts. Ladies, it’s time to get that pedicure on fleek! We can no longer hide behind our winter booties because open toed shoe season is back in full force! I’ll take any excuse to pamper myself, and what could be better than a fresh paint job? Now is the time to test that bright polish you’ve been eyeing all year. I’m currently obsessing over all things coral, especially those from OPI’s new California Dreaming collection. The shades, “Time for a Napa,” and “Me, Myselfie & I” will be my go to colors for the summer. Come join me on the bright side!
Let’s face it, swimsuit season = toning season (or in this case, what I like to call two weeks of Pinterest prep). Whenever I want to shake up my current workout routine, I always head straight for my Workout board. I’ve pinned tons of quick and effective routines that I rotate based on what part of my body I’m focusing on that day. When it comes to getting swimsuit ready, I stick to workouts that target those stubborn areas we are all too familiar with (lower abs, inner thighs, and butt). These areas are the hardest and take the longest to see results, but shaking up your routine with different exercises is a great way to start. Visit my Pinterest board for more inspiration. 🙂
I bet I can guess what most of you are thinking: “Jess, this is what you call fun?” But, hear me out… Although, participating in a 5k means waking up at the crack of dawn and doing all things cardio, it is so much more than that. And the fun will come after. It will come when you see how much money the event has raised and that your contributions meant something. I can honestly say that I have never had a bad time at a 5k. Get your friends and family members to join you and make an event out of volunteering a few hours of your time (and now you can enjoy your BBQ guilt free.)

What is a Memorial Day party without a great playlist!? You’re in luck because Miley is coming in hot with her new single, “Malibu,” and I can’t help but fall in love with it. I have been looooong awaiting the day when she would take it back to her roots and remind us all that the girl who covered a Dolly Parton song (and slayed it) is still there. I love the laid back vibe the song embraces and am now anxiously awaiting the release of this album. So turn it up, sit back, and relax in the sun as your well-crafted Spotify playlist blares through the speakers.
